MUGURUZA COMES TO THE CLASSIC AT NO. 4

Spanish-Venezuelan player Garbiñe Muguruza holds the highest seed this year, currently ranked No. 4 in WTA rankings. Muguruza has won four singles titles since going pro in 2011, two of which are majors. She most recently won the women’s singles title at Wimbledon, beating Venus Williams for the win. This victory moved her from No. 15 up to No. 5, leading up to her current ranking.

At 23 years of age and standing at 6 feet tall, Muguruza has a bye for the first round as the highest-seeded player at the BOTWC.
